Bryan

Bryan is now in his senior year at St. Olaf. He continues to love being in the Orchestra, playing his ‘cello. He got selected as the Orchestra president this year, adding some administrative tasks to his busy schedule. He is waiting for invitations to interview for medical schools, but won’t know about that for at least another month. To fill his time this January, he and another classmate from St. Olaf arranged to travel to India to work in smaller clinics with a medical mission unit. The person running the program hopes to be able to set up an ongoing relationship with St. Olaf, but Bryan and his friend are the “guinea pigs.”
Judy
Judy, now in her 2nd year as the director of Odyssey Charter School, wonders if she will be able to juggle all of the different responsibilities while still trying to find some balance in her life. We got her a laptop computer so she can do some of the work from home, but that is only partially helpful. I keep reminding her that school wasn’t the only thing that demanded her time last year. 2005 began with a number of medical emergencies in the Krause family. Judy’s parents have now moved to MN after 56 years in Colorado, and her sister survived and is recovering well from sudden cardiac arrest last March. We are thankful that everyone is currently healthy.
Walt
I continue to practice family medicine at the Bloomington Lake Clinic. We continue to work to remain independent, and we have spent extra time going through a planning process (not yet completed) that will help us look at the next five years. We also continue working to select a computer system to replace our existing practice management system and integrate an electronic health record system as well. (I know that was in last year’s letter, but it is a long process). We hope to make a selection this spring, then plan implementation over the next 9-12 months. In my spare time, I try to keep working on and updating the family genealogy records. I have been trading e-mails with Klaus Brunn, a 3rd cousin in Germany. That has been fascinating. The picture to the right is from the family Stelzer Reunion this summer: my mother and her siblings & spouses.
