2022 Year Review
Judy and I were able to travel more this past year. In June we were with a group that traveled from northern Italy to Germany on the Alpine Explorer/Glacial Express Train. We got to Oberammergau to see the Passion Play and then ended in Munich. The Passion Play was truly amazing. Judy and I extended our stay in Germany for another week to see more of Munich, Nuremberg, and Leipzig. We were able to go through the little villages of Tiefengruen, Untertiefengruen, and Lehesten where my Knoernschild and Stelzer ancestors came from. I didn’t have any contact information to try to reach any of the distant Knoernschild cousins who still live in the area, but I learned more about the area.
In September, Judy and I travelled with a group from St Olaf College to London for a theater week. It just so happened to coincide with the time of Queen Elizabeth’s death. She died the day before we were leaving to get to London, and we departed on Sunday the day before her funeral. London was jam packed with people. We were able to see the plays that we were scheduled to see and get to almost everything we wanted to see in London, but the traffic and queues were pretty amazing.
Peter’s family traveled here for Thanksgiving week for a week of family time. Unfortunately, Judy got COVID on Thanksgiving day, so we had to have Thanksgiving by ourselves, Facetiming with everyone at Bryan’s house.
