2023 Year Review

After our trip to the Galapagos Islands in March, Judy and I decided that we would stay stateside.  I would call this year our “unusual reunion year.”  In July we headed west.  We stopped first in Hershey, NE for the Huebner Reunion.   This reunion was the family of my Aunt Gertrude Hinck Heubner and her husband Charlie Huebner.  Charlie Huebner's siblings mostly farmed around the Hershey or North Platte, NE area.  I lost count of the total number there, but it was over 160.

From there Judy and I headed to Colorado, met with some friends of hers and then spent a week biking and hiking around Glenwood Springs, CO.  We ended that trip with the Stelzer Reunion (my mom's siblings' families). That reunion had about 70 in attendance.

At the end of August, I headed down to central Missouri.  I spent a couple of days in Concordia, MO doing research on the Hinck side of the family and met with one 3rd cousin there.  Then over Labor Day I went to Centralia, MO to join in another Stelzer reunion, this time with 3rd cousins and their families.

At the end of September, Judy and I went to Valparaiso University for our 50th college reunion.  We were able to meet up with several of our classmates.  We all agreed that it seemed very strange that we had gotten to that milestone anniversary.  We didn't think we were nearly old enough.
