Judy & Walt

Judy is now in her third year as principal at Gethsemane Lutheran School in Maplewood. The school is growing, but there are still budget and financial concerns. The economy is certainly making that more challenging. Judy had to have a second surgery on her left foot last March, to correct a loose tendon. That has helped, but she still has some problems. She did go ahead with the more major surgery on her right foot right after school got out in June. She had to keep her foot up for two weeks and used a knee walker for a total of six weeks. (She was using that at the Stelzer reunion). Her right foot is now doing very well. She is even eager to try cross country skiing again, but challenges will be with new boots and new skis!
My medical practice at the Bloomington Lake Clinic continues, and the challenges continue as we work to still remain independent. We have made significant progress with the electronic health system, but still have challenges to resolve. It has not made my days any shorter yet, but some of that is due to helping with identifying issues and working on how to get them resolved.
I still manage to take some time to spend working on family genealogy. My own immediate extended family has made that challenging with a baby boom with grand babies for both of my sisters and my oldest brother. There have been other babies in the Stelzer families. I have also taken time to reconnect with second and third cousins on my dad’s side, especially working to add to the Heine branches (my dad’s mother was a Heine). Grandmother Rosalie Heine Hinck had five brothers, and so far I have been able to connect with and get information from three of those descendant families. This keeps being a fun challenge.
