This past summer we were able to help organize and attend the family reunion for my mother’s side of the family.  Unfortunately my uncle Harold died in Nebraska just before the reunion was to start.  His daughter Diane and her family were still able to come to the reunion, but had to leave early to get back to finish getting things ready for his funeral.  Several of us were able to go straight from the reunion and get down to the funeral.  In a way we extended the reunion, because we got to see some of the other relatives who hadn’t been able to make it to the reunion.

This October brought more sadness, with the death of my brother Bob’s long-term companion and fiancé, LaVonne.  LaVonne had been battling cancer for the past year but now is at peace.
